Why is fenofibrate used?
Fenofibrate is used in addition to a diet to lower triglyceride and LDL cholesterol levels in the blood and increase the production of healthy cholesterol.
Do not take fenofibrate:
If you are allergic to the active ingredients or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
If you have kidney disease.
If you have liver or gallbladder disease.
If you are breastfeeding.
Warnings and Precautions:
Tell your doctor about all your health conditions, including if you have:
If you have kidney, liver, or gallbladder problems.
If you have muscle problems.
If you have diabetes.
If you have hypothyroidism.
This medication may cause muscle damage, especially if you are taking a statin drug, if you are over 65 years old, or if you have diabetes, kidney problems, or hypothyroidism.
This medication may cause liver and kidney problems.
Your doctor may order regular blood tests to monitor your liver and kidney function.
Possible side effects:
Stop using this product and seek immediate medical attention if you experience a rash; itching; red, blistered, or peeling skin; tightness in the chest or throat; difficulty breathing, swallowing, or speaking; unusual hoarseness; or swelling of the mouth, face, lips, tongue, or throat.
The frequency with which these side effects occur is unknown.

Other Medications and Fenofibrate
Tell your doctor about all the medications you are taking.
Fenofibrate interacts with the following medications: other cholesterol-lowering drugs, blood thinners such as warfarin and Coumadin, immunosuppressants such as cyclosporine and tacrolimus, and drugs such as cholestyramine or colesevelam.
How to Take Fenofibrate:
This medication is intended for adults over 18 years of age.
Your doctor should advise you to follow a low-fat diet before taking this medication.
Swallow whole.
Avoid chewing, breaking, or crushing.
This medication should be taken with food if produced by some brands.
It can be taken with or without food if produced by other brands.
Consult your pharmacist to determine whether you need to take your medication with or without food.
The usual recommended dose is one capsule or tablet once daily.
How to store fenofibrate:
Store at room temperature between 68 and 77°F (20 and 25°C).
Keep this medication out of reach of children.
Do not use this medication after the expiration date printed on the carton.
