                                    Empagliflozin is used to treat type 2 diabetes in adults (aged 18 years and older) whose diabetes cannot be controlled with diet and exercise alone.

Empagliflozin can be used without other medications in patients who cannot take metformin (another diabetes medication).

Empagliflozin can also be used with other diabetes medications. These medications may be oral or injected, such as insulin.
