What is Xylometazoline Nasal Spray used for?

Xylometazoline Nasal Spray is used in the nose to relieve:

Nasal congestion (blocked nose, including the common cold)

Perennial and allergic rhinitis (recurrent inflammation of the nasal mucosa, including hay fever)

Sinusitis.

Xylometazoline Nasal Spray contains the active ingredient xylometazoline hydrochloride, which helps open and clear the nasal passages by reducing excess nasal secretions and restoring swollen blood vessels to their normal size.

Do not use the spray if you:

Are allergic to xylometazoline hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients in the spray

Are allergic to other decongestants

Have recently had neurological surgery.

Do not use this spray in children under 12 years of age.

Warnings and Precautions:

Tell your doctor about all your health conditions, including if you:

Have hyperthyroidism

Have glaucoma

Have diabetes

Have heart or circulatory problems

High blood pressure

Possible Side Effects

Like all medicines, xylometazoline nasal spray can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. You may experience local discomfort after spraying if you have sensitive nasal passages.

The following side effects have occasionally been reported:

Burning sensation in the nose and throat

Local irritation

Nausea

Headache

Dry nasal membranes

Temporary and transient visual disturbances

Allergic reactions.

Cardiovascular effects, such as palpitations, may also occur, especially if you have heart problems.

Other Medications and Xylometazoline Nasal Spray

Please tell your doctor or pharmacist before using this product if you are taking or have recently taken any medications (especially monoamine oxidase inhibitors or other antidepressants), including those obtained without a prescription.

How to Use Xylometazoline Nasal Spray

For adults and children over 12 years: One spray in each nostril two or three times daily.

Blow your nose.

Lean forward slightly and insert the nozzle into the nostril.

Squeeze the bottle once and sniff at the same time.

Remove the nozzle before releasing the pressure on the bottle.

Repeat with the other nostril.

To avoid spreading infection, this pack should be used by only one person. For hygiene reasons, do not use this bottle for more than 28 days after opening.

Do not take decongestants for more than 7 consecutive days.

How to store Xylometazoline Nasal Spray

Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.

Do not use after the expiry date printed on the bottle after "EXP." The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.

Do not store above 25°C.

Do not use this bottle for more than 28 days after opening.

Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help protect the environment.
